Welcome. My name is Melissa Cook and I am pleased to offer Psychotherapy in the Memorial area of Houston. I am a native Houstonian, a wife, and mother of three children, ages 17, 15 and 13.
For over nine years, I have been fortunate to help clients in the Memorial/Houston area change their lives for the better. I approach my clients with Validation and compassion, finding a balance between unconditional positive regard, while expecting change from them as well.
I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior therapy, which (DBT) is a comprehensive treatment
approach for people who have intense emotions they are unable to manage in constructive ways. DBT provides a way out of suffering through effective and skillful means of regulating emotions and dealing with painful situations.
My main focus is to help clients stop behaviors that are destroying or interfering with their lives and help them build a life worth living. The therapeutic relationship is mutual, supportive, accountable, validating, direct, truthful and congruent. I have recovery from Anorexia, Compulsive Overeating, Bulimia, Exercise abuse and Depression. I have been in recovery for over 15 years and am called to help those who struggle as I did.
If you are struggling with an Eating Disorder (Anorexia, Bulimia, or Binge Eating Disorder), Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, or OCD, I strongly advise you tell someone and ask for help. Many times, it is just making the first phone call that help you become a healthier, more fully functioning person.
I would love to visit with you about your current situation over the telephone, or in person to find out whether or not you may be a candidate for therapy. It takes a great deal of courage to call, but if you do, I think you may be relieved.
Please contact me at 713-504-9172 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to hearing from you.
